The Prodigal Daughter
Sunday, March 13, 2011
to take to the world, to wander and roam;
believing her life to be incomplete
she stumbled upon
her source of defeat.
At first she'd met pleasure, independence, and fame,
But pleasure and happiness
are not one and the same;
So she blindly reached out to find who she was
and inevitably lost
all that she loved.
Disrobed and defeated she fell to her shins
pleading forgiveness for all of her sins:
"I never should have turned from your grace!"
As a shower of tears fell from her face.
"I ran from you not knowing the truth'
'only seeking to make the best of my youth'
'But I should have listened to the advice you gave'
'So much pain and suffering it would have saved.'
'I know I don't deserve your forgiveness'
'But with the Plumbbob above as my witness'
'I swear forever only you to serve'
'With all of my love'
'that you should have deserved."
He looked down upon her with a flash of his eye
a pain in his heart as he watched her cry;
for even as she begged for his favor
he'd already reached out a hand to save her.
With a merciful grasp he drew her near
To raze,
and slay,
all of her fears.
That day that she'd left him he'd wept and cried,
Believing her forever torn from his side;
But now, with her in his arms he confessed,
"Today, I have never been more blessed'
'For yesterday, I believed you lost, and died,'
'But now, she lives, this daughter of mine."
